Unravelled ... The Life of Elizabeth Fulloon, Superintendent of the Parramatta Female Factory, 1824-1827

Described by Governor Darling as a "woman of extraordinary bodily strength and energy of character" Elizabeth Fulloon was appointed from England in 1823 to be the new Superintendent of the Parramatta Female Factory.

This biography traces Elizabeth's life, from her Huguenot origins in London, through her three years at the helm of the most important institution for women in colonial NSW, to her final years running a Ladies Academy in O'Connell Street Sydney with her daughters.

Elizabeth's time at the Female Factory is central to this book, which will give new insights into its operation in the 1820s and the events which led to the infamous Riot in October 1827.
